A 169-year-old Fitzroy home owned by iconic Australian fashion designer Perri Cutten in the early ‘90s has hit the market.
Cutten founded her namesake womenswear label in 1981, which can be found in 32 stores across the nation – including Myer, David Jones and five independent outlets.
CoreLogic records show she paid $440,000 in 1987 for the 66 Nicholson St property, where she lived for six years before selling it for $525,000 in 1993.

It’s now for sale with a $4m-$4.4m price guide, listed by Nelson Alexander Fitzroy agent David Sanguinedo.
The four-bedroom, three-bathroom house, dubbed Royal Terrace, boasts a number of period features reminiscent of its 1854 build, such as vaulted ceilings, arched hallways and open fireplaces.
It also offers unobstructed views of the heritage Royal Exhibition Building.
“It’s one of the best locations in Melbourne,” Mr Sanguinedo said.
“The vendors downsized from a property in Canterbury and fell in love with the location and walking around Fitzroy, but their kids are older now so they don’t need the space.”
The historic home was originally constructed by builder and timber merchant John Moon Bryant using bluestone quarried in Brunswick and fittings imported from England.
It saw a range of other notable owners in the late 1800s, including famed Russian artist Nicholas Chevalier, Australian politician and the second Premier of Victoria John O’Shanassy, and Professor George Halford, who founded Australia’s first medical school, the University of Melbourne School of Medicine.
In addition to her work in the fashion industry, Cutten was a governor of the World Wildlife Fund and a board member of Mornington Peninsula charitable organisation Foundation Five Nine.
She is now understood to live on the Peninsula with her husband, photographer Jo Daniell.
Designer Penelope Loorhamm has been at the brand’s helm as creative director for more than 20 years.
